Have you thought about your last meal? If you could plan it out what would you eat? Who would you invite?
Jesus thought about it. And did it. He knew when and where it would happen. He knew what to eat and he knew who to invite.
Today is Maundy Thursday. Today we remember what happened at Jesus’ last supper.
So what happened at that last supper?
First, we know that it was the Passover Feast. God gave Israel specific instruction to observe the Passover every year. It was their biggest holiday. It was a feast designed to symbolize the blood of the lamb that saved them from slavery and oppression in Egypt.
To start the celebration Jesus stripped down, got on his hands and knees, and washed his disciples’ feet. Nothing says party like a good foot washing. This extreme act of service and humility was almost too much for some to handle.
As they ate Jesus took the bread, broke it, and described it as his body – broken for them. Near the end of the meal Jesus took his wine and said it was his blood – shed for them. He said to remember him when they have bread and wine. The celebratory meal certainly had a cryptic, dark and eerie feel.
They left the house and walked out of Jerusalem to Bethany. On that moonlit night they hiked through the valley and passed a vineyard on the hill. I like to think at that moment Jesus said to his disciples, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Abide in me and you will bear much fruit.”
Let Maundy Thursday be an invitation to humbly love and serve each other. Let it remind us of the love and sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God, who shed his blood for us. And may it remind us to stay as close to him as a branch is to the vine.

I love how you break things down so that it is easy for me to relate to.
It’s the only way I can understand it!

Thank you Pastor Tim, Holy Spirit reminder Jesus came to serve not be served; and like wise we are His servants for His Glory…..
