The Last Supper
Scripture: Luke 22:14-20
Devotional
At the table, Jesus gives His disciples bread and wine—simple elements, filled with eternal meaning. He speaks of His body given and His blood poured out, offering a new covenant not built on human effort, but on His sacrifice. In this quiet, intimate moment, Jesus is already interpreting the cross before it happens.
This is not just a meal to remember—it’s an invitation to receive. Even knowing betrayal and suffering are near, Jesus offers Himself freely. Good Friday reminds us that love is not abstract; it is given, broken, and poured out for us.
Reflective Questions
- What does it mean for me personally to receive Jesus’ sacrifice—not just understand it?
- Where might I be holding back from fully accepting the grace Jesus offers?
Prayer
Jesus, On the night You were betrayed, You gave Yourself willingly.
You took bread and said it was Your body, broken for me.
You lifted the cup and called it a new covenant, poured out in love.
Help me not to take this lightly. Teach me to receive Your grace deeply and live in response to it fully.
As I remember Your sacrifice, shape my heart to become more like Yours— willing to give, to love, and to surrender.
Amen.
